I've nearly missed the Blackberry picking again this year, I will have to get my act together and go for a forage in the hedgerows! although it is not wise to pick them after 10th Oct Devil Blackberry Day as the Devil spits on them. When the Devil was kicked out of heaven he fell into a Blackberry bush and has hated them ever since, Not that it is likely that I will meet Old Nick wandering around the countryside in Somerset but  perhaps I will meet a few of the imps and elves that inhabit the bushes, they will catch the unwary's hair and clothes in the thorns when you try to pick the fruit.
